The silence overwhelmed both for quite long. Then Wayne picked up a paper bag from somewhere and shoved it to Jane.
It was a takeaway from KFC.
“I had my breakfast.”
Actually, Jane started to resist Wayne’s offer at some extend for she now bore the concept that she always had to pay for what the guy had given.
“Eat more. You’ve been too busy and exhausted with your family affairs.” Wayne suggested in a soft tone.
That’s true. Jane’s mind could be easily read by this man as if she was a naive three-year-old child but not vice versa.
The maiden had been reminding herself not to fall for this guy now sitting beside her as the relationship was based on a trade between them.
Jane followed Wayne into the office building of P&F Corporation.
The building was located at the prime site in downtown F city. The logo of the company was proudly displayed on the top.
Jane was being stared at by all employees as she walked behind the president through the grand, well decorated entrance hall to his exclusive elevator.
However, what she hadn’t noticed was that one of her best friends--Susan Lee--was at the hall and observed everything. The girl now came to have the idea that Jane was more sophisticated than she imagined for she didn’t know when or how both of them were together.
A few minutes later, the leader of the human resource department Don Halil was called to the president office for Jane to be on board with P&F.
Don cast a sidelong glance at the girl sitting on the sofa and thought,
“Everyone has his or her weakness, now I know that Wayne is also the kind that couldn’t resist beautiful women. This is the first time that the president introduces someone to the company.”
As Jane was to embark on starting her work in the secretary room, which was next to Wayne’s office, her door was pushed open by a young woman in a tailor-made red suit.
She seemed to be the same age with Wayne and gave out an attracting sense of maturity.
Jane was stunned as she looked into her eyes, both of which were glinting with confidence and determination.
While the woman realized she had entered into the wrong room. She smiled, said sorry and closed the door. Two seconds later, Jane clearly heard that Wayne’s door was knocked.
“Mr Chen, now it explains why you didn’t reply my emails--you have a new lovely companion.” The woman gave a slight smile.
“Well, stop kidding me.” Wayne beamed as she closed the door and came to his desk.
“Aren’t you going to tell me about the new secretary?” The beauty cast a question.
“She’s Jane Lim.” The man replied with three simple words.
“Jane Lim...” The woman in red was stroke by the name. She repeated it, frowned and pondered for a moment.
Then she grinned.
“Congratulations, Wayne Chen.”
Wayne smiled back and said nothing for he had a complicated past with that girl at the other side of the wall and he wasn’t even able to explain it to this lady who had been his friend over a decade.
“Lindsey, what is it for you come back from abroad this time?”
“Because I missed you. Well, I do have my things to do.”
