Sam enjoyed himself and didn’t care about Zora’s defiant attitude. He invited Zora to sit beside him.

Zora refused and wanted to go away. Sam insisted. She had to stay with him reluctantly. To show she did not completely obey him, she sat opposite to him but not by his side. She said to him, “I just want to hear what rubbish you will say.”

Sam stayed calm and told her, “There is a birthday party tonight. You must company me there and be my partner.” He informed her of his decision without asking about her opinion.

Zora glanced at him and said, “Mr. Shen is so handsome and charming. You cannot find a girl as a partner?” Then she went on asking tartly, “How come you suddenly remember your poor wife?”

“This is not a request. It is a notice, an order.” Sam turned to be cold and expressionless again. He was coercing her into obedience.

Zora hated to see his cold face. She refused to follow his idea to change her clothes.

Sam was a little annoyed. He stood up and wanted to drag Zora upstairs to change clothes.

At this moment, Zora thought of the “punishment” just now and felt frightened. So she rushed upstairs and changed a lady style dress covering herself completely.

Sam noticed this but he said nothing.

He brought Zora to a quiet grandly -designed personal workshop. Two graceful and good-mannered middle-aged women came out to receive them.

They looked a little surprised saying, “Today the sun came out from the west? Mr. Shen unusually brought a little girl here.” Lena studied Zora for a while and nodded satisfactorily, “Sam is a man of vision.”

Zora felt disturbed and asked Sam who she was. Sam gave no answer but turned to Lena saying drily, “One hour.”

“On what occasion?” Lena looked at confused Zora and felt excited. She went on asking Sam, “In what capacity?”

“Birthday party.” Sam answered briefly. Then he added, “My wife.”

Zora was surprised and repeated what he said unconsciously, “Wife?” She squinted at Sam, looking lovely and cute.

Sam was quite touched by this and had a sudden impulse to kiss that pair of charming eyes. However, he met Lena’s curious eyesight and tried to calm down himself. He went out to wait.

“Where are you going?” Zora noticed and wanted to follow him out. But she was stopped by Lena and heartedly took her into the dressing-room. She said to Zora, “Little girl, all men are this way. The closer you want to be with him, the farther he wants to be away from you. So sometimes, distance can help you. Just like flying a kite, you should control the thread well instead of the kite itself.” Led by Lena, Zora walked through lines of brightly colored fine dresses. She told Lena she didn’t try to stick to him, but he refused to let her go.

It took a long time for Lena to select a suitable dress for Zora. At last, she decided to choose the treasure of her shop, a white ball gown.

Zora was completely attracted by the gown and exclaimed, “Marvelous!”

One hour later, at the gate, Sam turned around and his eyes were fixed. There stood a little girl wearing a pure white gown, whose chest was dotted with fine diamonds providing a perfect foil for her jade-like skin.

Only in a minute, the naughty girl changed to an attractive lady. Sam was totally charmed by Zora’s beauty. He could no help reaching out a hand to touch Zora’s hair.

Zora stopped him, “Don’t touch. It is such a good shaping style.”

Lena was amused to see that Sam would be refused by a girl.

Sam simply gave her a glimpse and she was hushed right away.

“Let’s go.” Sam gently took Zora by the hand. Zora was attracted by the beautiful clothes around in the shop and didn’t notice Sam’s care for her.

They arrived at the party, where it was very bustling with music and excitement.

The appearance of this combination of a handsome man and a beautiful girl drew away many people’s eyesight. Women present were amazed by Sam’s handsome and elegant quality, while men there were excited by pretty and charming Zora.

Zora took Sam’s arm, smiled gracefully and enjoyed the glory of being Mrs. Shen.

Sam noticed his wife’s happy smile, but he was expressionless. People around were all surprised and envious of Sam, who used to be so ignorant about women, but changed overnight to be that affectionate to a girl.

“Why do people look so queer?” Zora asked Sam in a low voice. “Did I do something wrong?”

Sam just held Zora closer by the arm and returned to the people there a cold and silent response. This intimidated the audience back to their communication.

“Go to say hello to Mr. Zhang.” Sam turned to Zora but to find she was staring at the left side. She was rather disturbed. She frowned, “Why is Nathan together with Kay? Damn Nathan Chu!” Actually what really annoyed Zora was not that Nathan brought Kay to the party but that their existence in front of Sam embarrassed her. Zora wanted to assail them, but she was stopped by Sam. Zora insisted to go and get even with Nathan. However, Sam made her stay calm.

Zora glared at him complaining, “It’s all because you scared him away this afternoon. Otherwise, Nathan dared not to …”

Sam gazed at the shining young couple not far from them and laughed. Nathan was chatting with Kay when he noticed a ray of chilling eyesight passing through him. He looked up and saw Sam and Zora. He was startled, “Why did Zora come with Sam?”
