Hailey’s eyes lit up the moment she heard Edward agree to give her a ride. She walked to him at once.

Before she could reach the door of the car, Edward suddenly asked, “Is that young man the reason why you want to go into the entertainment world?”

“No, of course not!” Hailey denied as she shook her head. “I… He…” However, she was unable to find a proper excuse.

“Drive the car,” Edward said to the driver before he said to Hailey, “Message me what you want to buy. I’ll bring them back home later. You stay here.” His voice was cool.

“Yes, Mr. Zhang,” the driver responded with a respectful tone.

The window of the car was rolled up again. Edward left without any hesitation.

Hailey was totally left in a loss.

There was no nothing she would do. So she turned around and walked back. The space suddenly fell into silence after she was left alone. The shadows of the big trees along the road stopped blocked the sunshine. Occasionally, some ravens would caw. The atmosphere was so weird that Hailey could not help speeding up.

A few minutes after, she arrived at the villa, panting heavily.

The moment she reached the gate of the villa, she heard Lucy’s flattering voice.

“Hey, Rachael! Look at this man! He is so mature and he has a very good family. I’m sure he will be a good match for Hailey!”

“Aunt Lucy, that’s very kind of you to think so considerably about Hailey. But she is only twenty years old. In this country, she is even not allowed to get married legally…” Rachael refused Lucy’s suggestion.

“She is not a child anymore! I married your uncle when I was younger than twenty years old. What’s more, she is not a true member of the Zhang Family, after all. She will marry somebody sooner or later. Only when that time comes could she have her own family.” Lucy tried to convince Rachael.

She did not intend to stop it until she saw Hailey who just came back home from the corner of her eyes.

Suppressing her anger and hatred, she said to Hailey with a seemingly kind smile, “Hailey, you arrived just in the nick of time! Come here. Sully and I chose some candidates for your future husbands. Come and check them out.”

Hailey smiled while taking off her scarf. “Aunt Lucy, that’s so kind of you to think about me when you are still so sick. I feel so sorry for troubling you.”

The smile on Lucy’s face froze for a moment. She was not sure whether Hailey was genuinely thanking her or teasing her.

Early in the morning this day, someone informed Lucy that Hailey had been staying in Edward’s room at midnight. She was so worried that she decided to do something.

In Lucy’s mind, there was a very rare chance for Hailey to hock up with Edward. However, she still grew extremely alert. There was no way she could allow Hailey to truly be a member of the Zhang Family.

“Hailey, you know what? I’m a senior and to me, Edward is still a child. It must be very difficult for him to raise you up. That’s why I want to find you a good husband to take care of you,” Lucy stated, her eyebrows furrowed.

“Yes, you are absolutely right, Aunt Lucy. Thank you so much for your concern,” Hailey replied obediently.

Then, she sat down beside Lucy and took the photos from the table, studying those men.

There were three candidates. All of them were middle- or old-aged men. They were bald and big-bellied with lustful eyes.

“Yes, I agree with you, Aunt Lucy. They all look mature and reliable. I like that type,” Hailey replied, her voice shy.

Lucy’s eyes lit up at once. She took Hailey’s hand and said with joy, “I’m so glad that you like them! I will arrange for you to meet. How do you like this idea?”

“Yes, please.”

“If only Daniel is as sensible and obedient as you! He…”

Before Lucy could finish her words, Hailey suddenly cut off and called out loud, “Mark!”

When the Chihuahua ran out of the stairs like crazy, Lucy’s face paled because of fear at once. She screamed aloud.

That dog tore Sully’s dress last night. Lucy saw it. The picture was so frightening that Lucy had nightmares all night. Sully also had cried sadly. What happened last night left her scarred in the long term.

Mark seemed to have recognized Lucy. It barked at her like crazy.

Lucy stared at Mark with her eyes opening wide. She felt too afraid to make a move.

Hailey said smilingly, “Don’t be afraid, Aunt Lucy. It is a very smart dog. It only bites those wicked people.”

Lucy became more scared. She stammered, “Wh… Why is it here?”

“Edward gave it to me,” Hailey replied as she played with Mark’s hair casually. “Oh, it has a name. It’s called Jill. Please be nice to it. If Edward knows someone treats it badly, I’m afraid he will become very angry again.”

There was nothing but anger in Lucy’s heart. However, she could not do anything to make her feel better. At last, she left the house in disgrace.

After Lucy was gone, there were only Rachael and Hailey in the living room.

“Hailey, it’s very important for a woman to choose her husband. How could you agree with Aunt Lucy to choose one for you? That’s very reckless,” Rachael asked. There was a hint of concern in her voice.

“I know what you mean, Rachael,” Hailey replied. “I just said those words to pretend to say yes. Otherwise, she would never stop it and would always talk about it. It won’t hurt if I meet those men. Aunt Lucy will stay quiet for a while if I do so. Don’t you think so?” When she was explaining to Rachael, she kept playing with Mark.

She was calm and was not afraid at all. Meanwhile, she seemed to look much smarter than before when she blinked her beautiful eyes.

Hailey seemed to have changed a lot! Rachael almost could not recognize her.

Secretly, Rachael felt a bit guilty. She had been minding her own business these days so that she did not have much energy and time to care about Hailey. She even did not notice that Hailey had changed greatly.

When Rachael was about to say something, another voice was heard from outside.

“Hailey, are you home?”

Rachael breathed in and whispered, “Hailey, it’s Jane!”

Jane was a middle-aged maid who had been working for Alex, Lucy’s husband, for many years. She was an important figure in the Zhang Family.

Hailey raised one of her eyebrows and said, “It seems that Uncle Alex has something important to discuss with Edward. Otherwise, he would not have sent Jane here.”

Hailey seemed to have already known Jane’s purpose coming here.

She was right.

As ordered by Alex, Jane came here to invite Hailey for lunch at his place.

“I’m so flattered to be informed by you, Jane. Thank you very much,” Hailey said with a humble attitude. Jane, who had been wearing a serious face, became more gentle.

“Here is some money. Please take it and accept my heartfelt thanks,” Hailey said as she passed over an envelope to Jane.

Jane had been disdainful. She did not think Hailey was rich enough to give her a large amount of money.

They walked, talked, and laughed along the way. Finally, they arrived at the destination - the villa where Alex lived in.

The moment Hailey stepped into the yard, she heard Philip’s flattering voice. He said, “Uncle Alex, I’m sorry I didn’t bring you any gift at your birthday party. But today, I am bringing it here. Hope it’s not too late.”

“Oh, that’s so thoughtful of you, Philip. Your father was once a subordinate of mine. Of course I will not mind it. Thank you,” Alex said after he laughed loud happily.

Philip and Edward were present too?

“Uncle Alex, why did you invite a stranger here? I mean, that girl, over there. It seems that her last name is not Zhang. And she is a little bit impolite,” Philip said before he took the cup on the table and took a sip of the tea.

Excuse me. A stranger? Who is the stranger on earth? Your last name is not Zhang either! You have nothing to do with the Zhang Family! Hailey cursed silently in her heart when she heard Philip’s absurd assessment.

“Ahem! Miss Hailey has arrived,” Jane said at that point in time. Probably she felt sorry for Hailey so she introduced her immediately.

The three of them - Alex, Philip, and Edward- all looked toward Hailey.

What the fxxk? Philip cursed to himself. He was dumbfounded for about ten seconds before he stood up and walked towards Hailey. When he stopped in front of her, the fake smile had already returned on his face. “Hello. You are… Hailey?”

Hailey brushed off his hand and said with a hateful voice, “Sure.”

“Oh, ha ha. I did not know you are so beautiful.” Philip smiled awkwardly Once again, he stretched out his hand and pinched her delicate face. “You are so adorable. You just look like the young lady who just started out.”

If the members of the Zhang Family were not present, Hailey would definitely break Philip’s arms! How could he be so disgusting!

“You would have a perfect face once you had plastic surgery.” Philip put her bang aside and stared at her with his charming eyes. “Look, God. You are gorgeous,” he continued praising.

Hailey could not help rolling her eyes at him.

“Philip, Hailey, come here. The dishes are ready,” Alex informed.

They walked to him. The closer they got, the more stressful they felt.

Hailey greeted Alex reverently before she looked to Edward and said with a sweet voice, “Hello, Edward."
