The crystal cores Shawn had could last for seven or eight days if he went easy on them. So could the food Ed had. They had to go out for crystal cores and food once they were used up. Otherwise, either Ed would starve to death, or he would eat Ed.

Shawn calculated the time, and then paid more attention to Ed’s recovering from his injury.

Ed was in the dark, but was touched by Shawn’s behaviors. It turned out that Shawn cared him so much.

“They’ve gone.” Six days later, Shawn suddenly said to Ed.

Ed got up from the couch, walked to the window, and looked down. Dozens of people were walking outside, however, zombies were attracted to attack them immediately after they went out. They had to kill zombies as heading outside.

“They must be going out for food.” Looking at the direction in which those people were heading, Ed said, “The food in the hotel was only purchased while it was needed, and there wasn’t much left. There were so many people staying here for so many days. The food must have been run short of.”

“You are familiar with the hotel?”

“I’ve stayed here for a couple of times.”

The hotel was a high-class hotel, and people staying here were either the rich or the powerful. It seemed that Ed was someone before the doomsday. However, so what? The world had been reorganized after the doomsday. No matter how high you ranked in the society before the doomsday, you would become nobody if your status could not be kept.

Thinking of it for a second, Shawn immediately got the idea out of his mind. It had nothing to do with him how those powers were reorganized after the doomsday. His top priority was to live better.

In order to live better in the doomsday, only the identity of a zombie was not enough. Strength was also necessary. No matter what the world would become in future, it was necessary to improve strength.

Shawn shook his head. It was too soon to think about all of these. He’d better leave the hotel first.

“There are over thirty people staying. Can you cope with them on your physical conditions?”

“Certainly.” Said Ed definitely.

“Don’t push yourself, and I’m not going to save you if shit happens.” Said Shawn coldly.

“Don’t worry. I won’t risk my life.”

Shawn stopped trying to persuade Ed. Anyway, Ed’s life was in his own hand, said uselessly.

“Prepare yourself, and we are leaving.”

“Okay.” Ed also felt like taking chance to leave with Shawn. After all, there was a team staying here, which had feuds with him, and it was not a fine residence.

Ed and Shawn started packing up. Ed brought two steel pipes as thick as a thumb out of nowhere, and a gun, which was silver all over and seemed like Desert Eagle.

“I hold the gun, and you take the steel pipes.” Said Ed.

“Is it the gun which you had used to kill several of them, and scare them away?” Looking at the gun, Shawn instantly knew how Ed, who had been badly injured, had scared away those people.

“And you were beaten so badly with a gun in your hand?” Said Shawn in contempt.

“A gun is not everything.” Not giving a damn about what Shawn said, Ed shrugged and said, “Especially in the eyes of those who had super power.”

Shawn raised his eyebrows, and said, “Well, let’s go.”

He stealthily went downstairs, preceded by Ed. There was no sign of people all the way down to the tenth floor. However, they didn’t let their guard down.

They saw two people trying to go upstairs immediately after coming to the ninth floor. They were both startled, and Ed raised his gun and pointed it at the two guys.

The two men raised their arms and started leaning against the wall.

Pointing his gun at the two man, not until he was certain that they did not follow up did Ed lower the gun.

Reaching the ground floor, they also saw about a dozen of people. Fearing the gun in Ed’s hand, none of them came to stop Ed and Shawn.

Not until they walked out of the hotel did they feel relieved.

“Fortunately, the gun could act as a deterrent. Otherwise, there would have been a hard fight.” Ed sighed and said. Several people looked at him in hatred just then. He would have been dead if he hadn’t held a gun.

“For guns are lethal weapons.” Said Shawn. Then he didn’t say any words and walked ahead in silence.

Not recovering from his leg injury, Ed limped behind and said, “Where are you going?”

“To find an isolated place.” Said Shawn.

“Can I go with you?” Asked Ed.

“I don’t want any liabilities.” Said Shawn coldly.

“...” Ed ground his teeth and said, “I’m not a liability but only got injured.”

“It is your injury that is a big liability.”

“I can live around you, not together with you.”

“...” Shawn thought for quite a while and agreed at last, “Okay, but you have to figure out a way to solve the problem of housing and food.”

“Sure.” Said Ed without any hesitation. Although they didn’t live together, it would be much safer than living alone.

Ed paid much attention to staying close and talking to Shawn, and hiding his smell with his super power. Therefore, he didn’t notice that none of zombies got close to Shawn but secretly stayed away from him.
