Uh... wait a minute, this can't be right. How could there be playing cards in a damn game world?
"Yes," Lily answered, quickly turned around and hurriedly left. Upon hearing the young master's words, the butler also bowed and left.
After all, in Butler Mo Bo's impression over the years, what kind of games can be played with paper, scissors, and pens? Scissors are a bit dangerous, so I should remind Lily later not to let the young master and the prince touch scissors.
"What is a deck of cards?" Alpha became interested in this term that he had never heard of before.
"There's nothing to talk about yet, you'll understand when things are done," Xian Dilara said, once again slumping on the table. Since Butler Morpo had left, no one dared to manage him anyway.
Alpha nodded silently, becoming slightly interested in the poker cards mentioned by Xian Di Rui La.
Lily quickly brought back the things Cinderella needed. Cinderella directed Lily to cut out fifty-four approximately rectangular pieces of paper. Then she took a pen and wrote on each one, from one to ten, then J, Q, and K, four of each. The jokers were circled twice, while the kings were circled once. As a result, a simple deck of playing cards appeared.
Alpha kept his eyes wide open throughout the entire time, showing a keen interest in the cards that Xian Dierilla was playing with.
Here, there are a total of fifty-four pieces of paper," Xian Tiria shook the paper in her hand. "Just now, you saw it too. I wrote on each piece of paper, from one to ten, then J, Q, K, making a total of fifty-two pieces, plus two Jokers, for a total of fifty-four pieces."
Alpha nodded.
"We two can play something simple. How about playing Landlord?" Xian Di Rui La held a soft, fluffy piece of paper and clumsily shuffled the cards.
"Dou Di Zhu?" Alpha was puzzled. "What is a landlord?"
"Ah, I don't know who the landlord is, so let's play against the Duke." Xendi Rila couldn't be bothered to explain to Alpha what being a landlord meant or how to play Landlord, so she placed the shuffled cards in between them. She flipped over the top card and set aside half of the deck next to it. Then, she took four cards from the top and placed them as the bottom pile."
Let me explain the rules of the game first so that you won't be confused. Among all the cards, the Big Joker is the biggest, followed by the Small Joker. Then it goes 2, 1, King, Queen, Jack, and so on in descending order with the smallest being three. When playing, you can only play a higher card on top of a lower card. Single cards can only be played on single cards, and pairs can only be played on pairs. If you go first, you can play three cards with an additional single card. Four cards of the same rank form a bomb, which can be played on any cards. The biggest bomb consists of the Big Joker and the Small Joker. The card that is flipped over is the Landlord...the Duke. The Duke can take an additional four cards from the bottom of the deck. Whoever plays out their hand first wins. Do you understand clearly?"
Alpha immediately shook his head, his face full of confusion, not knowing where to start asking questions.
Tinkerbell waved her hand and reached out to start drawing cards. "If you don't understand, play a few rounds first and you'll get it."
Alpha nodded and imitated Xiantila's actions, also taking a card.
In the third round of the game, Alpha was the first to play all the cards in his hand. He looked at Xian Dilar, who still had five cards left, and smiled incredibly happily.
"This game is so much fun!"
Cinderella nodded weakly, resignedly shuffling the cards.
Letting the prince shuffle the cards, it is feared that he is so foolish that he doesn't even care about his own life. Nevertheless, he still has some self-awareness when it comes to his own impulsive behavior.
"This time, it's going to be fun." This little brat sure gets the hang of things quickly.
"Mmm! Got it." Alpha nodded obediently and smiled at the dazzlingly bright eyes of Cinderella. However, Cinderella, who was diligently shuffling pieces of paper and struggling to wash them, was destined to miss seeing it.
"How did Xian Di Rui La come up with such an interesting game?"
"It was just a random thought," Xiantilila replied irritably. With teammates constantly switching sides around her, she couldn't trust anyone, so what could she possibly do?
"Wow, Xian Di Rui La, you're really interesting..." Alpha praised.
"... Why does this statement sound so arrogant..."
"But Cinderella, I have a question to ask you," Alpha spoke up.
"Nyessa asked," Sarinea replied impatiently.
"You previously told me that J represents a knight, Q represents a queen, and K represents a king. So why are the smallest cards, Ace and Two, bigger than the king, queen, and knight?"
"Because the foundation of a country is comprised of the lowest class of commoners, that's why one is less than many, and when the commoners unite, they become a force to be reckoned with, stronger than an individual struggling alone," said Saintilla as she focused on shuffling the cards, casually responding. This was something that her squad leader used to motivate them when she was serving in the army, and it had become ingrained in her as a conditioned reflex.
In short, it is another expression of how a pair of chopsticks is easily broken.
The speaker spoke without intention, but the listener took it to heart. Alpha was stunned upon hearing Xian Di Rui La's response. Xian Di Rui La finished shuffling the cards and glanced at Alpha, whose face was frozen in astonishment. Alpha rolled their eyes speechlessly.
"Do I have to fight or not? If not, I'll go for a run!" This bratty kid is really difficult to deal with.
"Hey... Punch!"
Another round of Landlord's Fight began, and Alpha once again emerged victorious.
Another round of "Fight the Landlord" began, and Alpha won once again.
Cinderella gripped the remaining cards in her hand, showing a malicious expression with bared teeth. She stared at Alpha, who was smiling like a flower, with the urge to flip the table in frustration.
This brat is so annoying!
Cendrilla is really interesting, I didn't come here in vain today.
......
Cinderella spent half the morning and the entire afternoon playing cards with Alpha. They played everything from Landlord (a popular Chinese card game) to Golden Flower (a poker-like game), from drawing turtles (a card game) to Twenty-One (Blackjack). Basically, Alpha cleaned up everything that Cinderella knew how to play, making her feel so sick that she almost vomited. It was the Knight Commander of Alpha's knights who came in and reminded Alpha that he should return to the palace.
Outside the Duke's mansion, the setting sun hung low in the sky, casting a warm golden hue over the entire expanse. The air was filled with the fragrance of blooming roses.
Under the coercion of Butler Mobo, Cinderella reluctantly went out to send Alpha away. Looking at Cinderella standing by Butler Mobo's side, lowering her head and swaying her shoulders while digging the ground with the tip of her toe, Alpha smiled and called out to her.
"Xanadu!"
"En?" Cinderella raised her head and looked at Alpha, who was shimmering with golden light all over his body. Alpha raised his hand and waved, and the golden button on his cuff flickered in the corner of Cinderella's eye again.
"I am very happy today, Cinderella."
"Oh, is that so." Xian Tila turned her head irritably, refusing to look at Alpha.
"I'll come again next week!"
"Don't...!" came a voice.
"The Duke's Mansion always respects Your Highnesses, the Second Princes." As soon as Xian De Rui La's words were about to be spoken, her head was pressed down by the butler, Mo Po.
"Xanthirella, see you next week," Alpha said with a faint smile as he watched Xanthirella with her head down.
"Gongso, Second Prince Your Highness." Butler Mo Bo replied on behalf of Cinderella, while at the same time exerting pressure on Cinderella's head to prevent her from lifting it.
After a few horse neighs and a series of metal friction and footsteps, Mo Bo retracted his hand. Xian Di Rui La lifted her head and watched the carriage that was heading towards the setting sun. The already splendid carriage appeared even more dazzling under the sunlight. A gust of wind blew, and Xian Di Rui La was captivated by the roses, rubbing her eyes with raised hand before turning and leaving.
And leaning against the rear window of the carriage, Alpha watched Cinderella intently. He was baffled when he saw Cinderella raise her hand to touch her eye.
Why cry?
Do you not want to leave me?
Alpha immediately smiled and raised an eyebrow.
Hmm, it must be like this!
Cinderella doesn't want to part with me!
