Su Ying rushed into the carriage and found Su Ming leaning against a soft pillow, lost in thought. His face was extremely pale, and when he saw Su Ying about to sit on the edge of the bed, he instinctively shifted himself aside.
A needle pricked Su Ying's heart, but she maintained a calm facade as she adjusted the cloak he was wearing. She asked, "Brother, have you been sleeping well? Are you feeling any better now?"
Su Ming opened her mouth, and although her voice was somewhat hoarse due to being unconscious for a long time, it still sounded ethereal and clear: "Where are we going?"
Despite the cold and indifferent tone of the question, Su Ying was still moved by the word "we" and hurriedly replied, "Brother, your body is somewhat weak. My master is a master in the field of medicine. I will invite him to come and treat your body."
Su Ming struggled to get up and said, "Why bother with all the trouble? I know my own body well enough to restore my inner strength and make myself better."
As Su Ming's voice fell, a sudden eerie silence engulfed the compartment. Su Ying silently raised his gaze to look at him, his eyes filled with boundless darkness, sending shivers down one's spine.
Su Ming had never seen Su Ying like this before, and a chill crept up in her heart. She felt her whole body go numb under his gaze, wanting to hide but nowhere to escape.
Su Ying withdrew his gaze and reached out to lay Su Ming down. Su Ming's body was weak, and she had already exerted all her strength when she tried to sit up just now. Now, with a gentle pull from Su Ying, she fell back onto the bed. She was too weak to resist, and Su Ying carefully tucked her in before softly saying, "Brother, rest now. I'll come and keep you company in a little while."
After getting off the carriage, Su Ying summoned Lin Yu and asked, "I'm asking you, is there any possibility of keeping him from dying without restoring his martial arts?"
Lin Yu was taken aback by this question, and hesitated for a moment before responding, "Well... there certainly is a way, but my current medical skills aren't capable of it yet. Also, even if it's cured, the body will still be weaker than an average person."
"Is that so? That's good then, as long as I can stay alive."
Inside the carriage, Su Ming stared blankly at the roof. How long had it been since she stood under the open sky? It seemed like it had been so long that she had already forgotten. Thinking about this, Su Ming lifted the blanket on her body and prepared to get out of bed, but a wave of weakness overwhelmed her and she ended up weakly collapsing back onto the bed.
An unnamed anger surged from the depths of his heart. He struggled, stumbling out of bed. Supported by some unknown force, he grabbed onto the carriage wall, stood up unsteadily, and walked outside. As he lifted the carriage curtain, to his surprise, he found that nobody was looking at him. Su Ming adjusted his clothes, aimlessly walking outward. He had no intention of escaping, only wanting to breathe in the air outside and experience the fleeting sense of false freedom.
After interrogating those bandits, it was discovered that they were just a group of petty thieves who took control of a small hill and brazenly started robbing. Now that they realize they've kicked an iron plate, each and every one of their pig-like faces shows an expression of not having checked the almanac before leaving the house.
Lin Yu had originally thought that the bandit's den would be a good place to spend the night. So, with high spirits, he went to the carriage to get something. When he arrived near the carriage, he noticed that there was no one around. It was then that he remembered he had called off the guards for this reason. He looked at Su Ming who was still sound asleep and couldn't believe his luck. Lin Yu scrambled into the carriage, looking at the empty vehicle.
In the midst of the panic and confusion, a voice sounded behind, saying, "What are you doing standing here? Move aside, I need to go in."
