Lin Yu put on her clothes and stuffed the toothbrush into her mouth. She opened the door, but Gao Yuan still refused to come in. It wasn't until Lin Yu forcibly dragged him into the dormitory that she considered it done.
"Isn't KTV a place where students are not allowed to enter?" Lin Yu mumbled with a mouth full of foam, hastening to finish washing up in no time.
"Do you really believe that? Many internet cafes have signs at the entrance saying that those under the age of eighteen are prohibited, but they still welcome them anyway," Gao Yuan shrugged and patted Lin Yu's shoulder, leading him out of the door.
"Lin Yu, where did you and the senior go last night? We didn't see you after we went up to the third floor, and we didn't see you when we came down either. Could it be that you two ran away?" Several classmates from Gao Yuan's dormitory walked over with a smile, teasing from time to time.
Lin Yu smiled awkwardly, unable to help but think of Su Yi embracing herself in the darkness, whispering in her ear, "Don't be afraid, it's me." Her ears turned bright red. Lin Yu waved her hand and said, "Actually, that place isn't some haunted building. Jiang Hai told me that the building has been neglected for years and is unfit for living. It's just some rumors, nothing meaningful. Of course, I won't pursue it any further."
"Is it true or not?" Everyone looked at Gao Yuan in unison.
"I've also heard about it... Oh, it's getting late, let's hurry up, or there won't be any private rooms left."
Gao Yuan, in fact, had not been to KTV many times. He only went once during the summer vacation when he followed his older brother and sister. He didn't even know that KTV's actual opening time is at 12 noon. They arrived early, and only a few scattered waiters brought them water and let them sit and wait on the sofa.
Lin Yu let out a sigh and sat on the sofa, watching them play poker absentmindedly while drinking water and scrolling through Weibo on her phone. She glanced at the trending news, which either involved a celebrity cheating or getting married, without any novelty at all.
Leaning back on the sofa, Lin Yu yawned. The morning passed by in a blur. Clutching her phone tightly, she suddenly received a message. Squinting her eyes, she was about to open the message when a waiter announced that the establishment was now open. She got up, joined the others, and headed towards the reception to book a private room. There were many students from the same school around, their fair skin revealing that they were all freshmen seeking some fun on this rainy day.
When the private room was opened, Lin Yu forgot about the text message. Sitting in the room, she was singing happily with everyone. Before long, she heard a commotion outside. Looking through the transparent glass door, Lin Yu saw some classmates who were just at the front desk. Suddenly, she felt that something was wrong.
"Gao Yuan, is something happening outside?"
"What happened? Let me go take a look."
Lin Yuxin anxiously watched him leave and within moments, he hurriedly returned, yelling towards the private room, "Hurry, the police are here to inspect!"
"What? The police?" Lin Yu was stunned. Gao Yuan immediately pulled her out, and they hurriedly followed the others, running towards the small door by the fire escape channel.
All the way was tense, and just as Lin Yu was about to relax, a few people in uniforms came out in front of him.
More than ten students from the same school were squatting in the police station, receiving ideological education. Lin Yu felt extremely unlucky, as it was his first time going out and he was already invited to the police station for a talk. Several class teachers came with blackened faces to collect the students. Lin Yu kept his head down, making the impression in Teacher Gao's heart even worse.
Dejectedly returning to school, they were subjected to another round of criticism from their homeroom teacher before being allowed to return to the dormitory. Lin Yu was filled with the desire to beat up Gao Yuan, but seeing him with a guilty expression on his face, his heart softened towards everyone.
Today, I'm sorry for letting everyone down. In the future, when I have the chance, I'll treat everyone to a meal. I will never go to that unlucky KTV again. Gao Yuan spat angrily, greeted Lin Yu at the staircase on the third floor, and then went upstairs with his roommates.
Lin Yu, with a drooping head, opened the door to the dormitory. Sitting alone on a chair, she stared blankly, only then realizing that she had forgotten to read the unread text message.
Su Yi 12:05
"Where did you go at noon? You haven't come back all this time?"
Lin Yu sighed and briefly explained what happened at lunch, sending a message. Not long after, her phone vibrated urgently, but this time it wasn't a text message, it was a call from Su Yi. Lin Yu hesitated for a moment, as if she could imagine Su Yi's furious expression on the other end of the line. She couldn't help but tremble and with a shaky hand, she pressed the answer button.
"Are you alright?"
Lin Yu widened his eyes in surprise. Su Yi's voice was calm and the surroundings were quiet. But shouldn't he be in class right now?
"I'm fine...just got scolded by the teacher for a few sentences." Lin Yu is someone who is easy to manipulate. As long as someone treats him well, he will be extremely grateful. He sniffs, feeling a sourness in his heart. In the past, no one would ever ask him, "Are you okay?"
"It's good that nothing's wrong," Su Yi let out a sigh of relief. "Let's discuss it further when I return."
Afterward, there came the sound of "beep beep beep" from the other end of the phone.
Lin Yu unexpectedly sat in the dormitory without going anywhere, until it turned dark. The second and third-year students finished classes one after another. Only then did Lin Yu stand up from the chair and, limping, dragged their numb legs to the door, pressing the switch on the wall.
In no time, Su Yi hurried back and looked at Lin Yu with an anxious expression. "Why did you go to KTV with them? These first few days of school are usually the strictest in terms of inspections. It's fortunate nothing happened when you came across trouble at a time like this."
Lin Yu frustratedly rubbed his head. "How would I know... They said we couldn't waste the whole day, so we went. Who knew things would turn out like this? We were about to run away, but then we got caught and brought back."
"Before you go anywhere in the future, tell me first, got it?"
Lin Yu raised her head and nodded at Su Yi's gaze.
"Have you eaten?" Su Yi asked with a deep breath.
"No." Lin Yu suddenly realized that he hadn't eaten anything all day, except for a few sips of water at the KTV.
Her arm was suddenly pulled up, and a gentle voice floated into Lin Yu's heart: "Idiot, let's go, I'll take you out to eat."
This time, Lin Yu didn't argue back with him because she herself realized that compared to Su Yi, she truly seemed like an idiot.
Sighing quietly, Mo Mo let Su Yi lead her out of the dormitory. When the door was about to close, she quietly slipped away and walked downstairs alongside him.
"So coincidental, let's have a meal together, shall we?" Jiang Hai saw them in the cafeteria and immediately walked over with his tray, sitting right next to Lin Yu without feeling the least bit estranged. He picked up his chopsticks and took a bite of the dish from Lin Yu's bowl, saying, "Seems like it's not bad at all. I thought it would be difficult to eat."
Lin Yu looked up and knew at once that Su Yi's face must be greener and longer than a cucumber at this very moment.
