After the drinking and fighting, Alyssa felt all the gloom in her heart vanished. In her opinion, violence was the best way to solve a problem.
She felt great and was going to take her leave. But when she turned around, she gaped from shock, her eyes as wide as plates. She didn't know how long her boss had been standing behind her.
It must be what getting a duty call on one’s wedding night felt like.
Aaron was stone-faced. His looks and tall figure stood out among other barflies. Alyssa recognized him immediately.
She gasped. Maybe a little too hard, she choked and started coughing. Seriously? Running into my boss under such circumstances? she thought as she patted herself on the chest.
Basil walked up to her and put his hands on her shoulders proudly. "You were awesome!” he said.
Alyssa smiled. Yeah, she sure had a good time fighting, but she figured her good impression on her boss must have been destroyed by now.
When she walked passed Aaron, she stopped and gave an awkward smile. "Hi, Boss, fancy seeing you here,” she said.
Aaron looked indifferently at her. Alyssa swallowed nervously, trying her best to maintain her smile.
"You sure can fight,” he commented.
Alyssa’s heart skipped a beat.
Crap! He did see me fight.
Running out of words, she let out a fit of goofy smiles.
Maurice, who was standing behind Aaron, gave her a measuring look and thought, What a ruthless woman!
"Vern, clean it,” Maurice ordered.
A young man standing behind him nodded and started to clean the mess after the fight. Aaron and Maurice left the bar.
Staring at Aaron's retreating figure, Alyssa couldn't help but sigh, "Do you hear that? That's the sound of my career being ruined." Basil replied with a smile, "It's no big deal. I can support you." He put his arm around her shoulder and led her towards the door.
"But I don’t want to be a housewife,” she said.
Basil pulled her ear and asked, "What’s wrong with being a housewife? You don’t want to take care of me and our kids?”
Alyssa pinched him on the waist.
"I’ll spoil you as if you had never been spoiled before if you will give me a baby,” Basil added, rubbing where she had pinched with a grin.
Only when he was with her would he act like a child. In many people eyes, he was mature, polite and elegant.
"Basil,”
someone called.
Basil and Alyssa turned around. A tall, pretty woman in a black strapless dress was walking towards them with a smile. She wore delicate makeup. Her hair was tied up in a cute topknot. In her hand was a Hermes bag. She had the whole package of being a socialite diva.
Alyssa turned to Basil. The latter looked her in the eye and told her, "She is Sharon.”
Alyssa nodded knowingly. So, here comes my love rival. Let me teach you a lesson, missy, she thought. Dealing with enemies was her thing.
"Is something wrong, miss?
We’re on our way to dinner,”
Alyssa asked Sharon politely.
Sharon smiled and replied in a soft tone, "Nothing. I saw Bas and just wanted to talk to him.”
She sounded calm. And she called him "Bas,” which indicated how close they were. Alyssa sensed provocation.
Some people say that when three women gather around, it means drama. Actually, two women enemies could cause as much drama. And it could get ugly.
Alyssa wasn’t afraid of dealing with spoiled rich girls or aloof, arrogant women. But when it was a composed, manipulative, conniving bitch, that would be the worst.
