Jane became so painful and sad when she heard William would marry another girl. She was in pain as if she was choked by the twisting organs.
However, Jack was next to her, so she could not show it out; or Jack must doubt her. Jane thought she had struggled to make Jack believe that she did not fall in love with William and there must be a bad ending for the Blakes and William if he could sense something wrong. Therefore, Jane had to spare no effort to cover the sadness and tried to pretend to be calm and good girl.
Jack had been in the head of Jane, so he found nothing abnormal. He saw the innocent and good girl when he looked back.
The Mrs. Swift talked with Babe Davis happily in the hall, but Jack did not want to enter anymore. It was a nice day, so he wanted to stay at the garden with Jane.
House of Swift was an old house. It was said that the house was built in the Republic of China era, so steady and atmospheric style perfectly matched the social status of the big family. It was so rare when the house could still have been in the sense of a period after several decoration for years.
The garden in the house was favorite place of Jane. The garden was so empty without nothing, but Jack asked someone to rebuild the garden since Jane loved the place.
Now, it was planted with her favorite trees, Cherry trees. In every spring, pink cherries and white cherries looked like a beautiful flowery sea when they were in flower, which was so beautiful and dreamy moment. Jane loved that so much. Jack even made a swing and a set of tables and chairs in the garden. What Jane liked the most was to swing and enjoy the cherries. She would like to stay in the garden for a long time when she came to the house, so she loved it so much.
“Jane, do you still practice piano?” Jack still urged Jane to practice piano strictly for no reason. To facilitate Jane practicing piano, there was a crystal piano ordered by Jack in the garden beside the piano room.
“Uncle Jack, I have been so busy recently, so I have no time to practice piano.” Jane found a good excuse.
Jack knew that Jane became lazy again, “Now you have nothing to do, so just play one song for me.”
“Now?” Jane was so confused since she thought they came for cherries, but now for the piano?
“Yeah, right now.” Jack sat on the chair and the maids served them with tea and snack.
Jane must do as what Jack had said. She sat in front of the piano. She had no idea of what she should play, but she chose her favorite song, Salut d'Amour, when Jack said that she could play whatever she liked.
Jack looked at the delicate and vacant girl, listening to the clear and melodious music. The love song and flying cherries formed a charming picture.
Jane stopped playing when Jack was okay with the songs that she had played. She walked to Jack and sat on a chair next to Jack’s.
“Jane, you have made great progress and you really don’t let me down.” Jack smiled warmly and he praised Jane rarely.
“It is a cake made by a maid. You should taste it since it is your favorite taste, matcha.”
“Thank you, Uncle Jack! It looks so yummy!” Jane loved cake so much, especially the matcha. The little cake was so delicate that she really wanted to eat it as soon as possible.
“Wow, it is so delicious!” Jane ate a little. The cream was sweet and light, and it was melting in the mouth. With the sweetness of matcha, it was too delicious to swallow it.
Looking at the funny and tricky expression and her exciting words, Jack felt happy.
“Is it so delicious?”
“Yes! It is true, Uncle.” Jane raised her face and said seriously.
“You should feed me since it is so delicious.” Jack did not like dessert, letting alone cake, and he just amused her since she ate it happily.
“Fine.” Jane was reluctant to share the food with others, but the cake was made by the maid of Swift. She could not reject it since the master of Swift asked for it. “But it is only one piece!”
Jane delivered a piece of cake to the mouth of Jack and she hurried to get an answer, “Is it so delicious?”
“Yes.” Jack swallowed the cake and he was still strange to the sweet taste.
Jane’s cheek and mouth were spotted with cream when she was enjoying the cake. Jack took out a handkerchief and wiped it for her, and Jane raised her face to his wiping.
Jack had been in a wealthy condition and all he had was the best after taking over the family. His handkerchief was handmade with good quality, but now it was used to wipe the cream on the face of Jane.
William entered the garden when Jane fed Jack with a cake. He could not hear the conversation between these two people for the long distance, but he could see the close and tacit action between them.
Looking at the scenery, William seemed to be calm, but the anger and unhappiness had been rolling and surging in his chest and he wanted to ventilate all of these completely. He gripped the fingers to calm himself, but the joints clicked for him putting forth his strength.
William stood up silently and stared at the two people with anger. There was no expression on his beautiful face. It was so calm as if the calm before the storm.
Finally, Jane found William standing there. Jane was nervous and shocked when looking at William under the cherry trees. She had no idea of when he came and how much he saw.
William came to them and Jane stood up from the chair and said, “President Swift.” William did not answer Jane and he just said with Jack sitting in the chair, “Dad, I am back.”
“Okay, go to the hall.” Jack did not stand up or raise the head. He sat in the chair and said calmly with William. Jack’s gesture was so casual, but he won’t be ignored in the air for the noble and noble temperament.
Different from the warm attitude toward Jane, Jack treated William unfriendly as if he was talking with someone strange instead of his son.
William cared nothing about Jack’s attitude. He just said hello and left. He never looked at Jane.
