The incident in the elevator was like a nightmare haunting Alyssa the whole day. She was too humiliated to face Aaron. The office was full of gossipy people. Before long, everybody knew what had happened that morning.
At dinner time, Aaron took Callum and Alyssa to a fancy restaurant. Aaron involved Alyssa in all the core parts of every project. The other people thought that he was grooming her to be the next Callum. Only Aaron himself knew what his real purpose was.
It was a business dinner. As Aaron’s secretary, Alyssa drank the wine on his behalf when somebody toasted to him. Seeing this, the clients toasted to Aaron more often. They were waiting to see her get drunk.
Alyssa was new at this. But she knew that most businesses were done at dinners. An important part of the PR staff’s job was to seduce the clients.
All of a sudden, she felt a hand stroking her leg. Alyssa maintained a smile as she put one hand down under the table and pinched the predator’s hand hard.
Son of a bitch! How dare you maul me! she cursed inwardly.
Aaron, who sat next to her, saw what she did. The day at the bar, he had seen how she fought. This woman had a temper and when she was pissed, she had no scruples. He liked her about that.
After dinner, the three of them walked out of the restaurant side by side. Alyssa was drunk. Her head was killing her.
“You take a cab home. I’ll drive her home,” Aaron said to Callum.
For a moment, Callum couldn’t believe his ears. Instead of asking him to drive her home, his boss was taking Alyssa home personally!
Soon, he came to his senses and responded, “Okay.”
After helping Alyssa sit in the back seat, Aaron settled in the driver’s seat and started the engine.
Callum was left standing there alone. It seems the rumors in the office are not totally groundless, he thought.
“Where do you live?” Aaron asked on their way.
Drunk and muddleheaded, Alyssa wanted to sing, “My home is in the northeast, up the Sungari River.” But she was distracted. Feeling uncomfortable, she lay in the seat and muttered, “Why do you care where I live? It’s none of your business.
You’re so loud. Leave me alone.”
Then she was very quiet.
Aaron looked in the rearview mirror, but he didn’t see her. He turned his head only to see that she was sound asleep. Usually, she fell asleep fast after getting drunk.
Aaron thought about it. Out of choice, he took her to his own place.
When the car rolled to a halt, Alyssa was still asleep. A group of servants walked out of the house to greet Aaron. He stepped out of the car, opened the back door, carried Alyssa out, and walked into the house under the servants’ curious, astonished gazes.
The butler Ragnar Zhang and the housekeeper Nadia Fang were relieved to see that. Finally the young master has shown some interest in a woman. Nobody has ever heard anything about him seeing anyone, though. And now he has brought a woman home. His way is so straightforward, right to the point, they thought.
It seems the house is to have a mistress.
Aaron carried Alyssa into the guest room and roughly threw her on the bed. Alyssa kicked in annoyance with her eyes closed. And it landed on his thigh. Aaron was irritated. Containing his impulse to throw her out of the house, he tucked her in and left the room with a stony face.
“Nadia, make some coffee and bring it to the study, please,”
Aaron said on the second floor.
“Yes, Mr. Gu,” Nadia replied.
She and Ragnar exchanged a look. Things weren’t going as they had assumed. It was in the middle of the night. Since Aaron had brought the woman home, what was he doing in the study instead of sleeping?
The next morning, Alyssa woke up with a bad hangover.
She blinked her eyes open and stared blankly at the huge ceiling. When she took in her surroundings, she jerked up in shock.
Wow, I thought it was a dream. My room is not this huge.
Where am I?
Memory from last night came back little by little. She was drunk, and got into a car. And then...She hit her head with her fist. What happened next was only a blur.
Then she looked down. She was still wearing her clothes from last night, and she didn’t feel anything weird on her body.
But, still, what was this place?
She got out of bed, walked out of her room, and looked around. It was a sumptuously decorated villa, just like the one she had dreamed of.
“Miss, you woke up,” someone politely addressed her.
Alyssa turned around. An amiable woman was standing behind her.
Rubbing her messy hair, she asked, "Um, where am I?"
The woman smiled cordially, “This is young master’s place.”
“Who is young master?”
Alyssa wondered.
The woman looked at her incredulously. “The CEO of JK Group, Aaron Gu.”
Terrified, Alyssa covered her face with her hands.
“No, no, no, no. My boss brought me home!
What should I do?” she mumbled.
The door to the room opposite to hers was suddenly opened. Aaron walked out, two of the buttons on his white shirt were left open, his hair half wet. He looked charming and vigorous as ever. Almost reflexively, Alyssa stood straight and said, “Morning, Boss.”
“Morning is almost over,” he responded indifferently.
He looked at her. Her clothes were wrinkled. Her hair was a mess.
She was still wearing yesterday's makeup. She looked like a disaster, but that was her real self.
“You have five minutes to freshen up. Then go downstairs to have breakfast and go to work.”
With that, he went downstairs.
Alyssa nodded violently and hurried back into her room after he turned around.
When she looked into the mirror, she almost screamed.
Her boss had seen what she was like after she just woke up!
And a more serious problem occurred to her when she was washing her face. She grabbed a towel, dried her face simply and found her phone.
Just as she had expected, her father had called her more than twenty times. She didn’t even dare to call him back. She hadn’t gone home last night. Her father would kill her.
But she had to call him to let him know she was fine. The phone was answered at the first ring.
“Alyssa, how dare you not come home last night!
Where were you?” her father roared.
Alyssa felt her ears were ringing.
“Dad, calm down. Listen to me.” She tried to explain.
“Talk!” her father yelled.
“There was a dinner last night. I was with my boss. I was drunk and he didn’t know where I live, so he took me to his place.”
Before her father said anything, she added, “But don’t worry. I slept in the guest room. Nothing happened.”
“I would tear his company down if he dare lay a finger on you!” her father bellowed through gritted teeth.
Her father was known as a nice person in the hospital. But when he talked to his daughter, he was either disappointed or mad.
“My boss is not that bad. If he did something to me, I would tear his company down myself.
I’m fine. Relax. Gotta go. Talk to you later.”
The moment she hung up, a voice said at the door, “Tell me, how do you plan to tear my company down?”
Alyssa wished the floor cracked and swallowed her. If she could, she would walk over to him and swear that she wouldn’t dare do anything like that.
