Shawn woke up in a daze, headed to the bathroom to wash up with his eyes half closed, bumped into the table, and kicked a chair over.
The great sound of the chair falling on the floor awoke Shawn. Finally, he opened his eyes. Taking a glance at the fallen chair, he slowly approached and righted it, and then continued heading towards the bathroom.
After reaching the bathroom, he began rinsing his mouth, washing face, and shaving.
Suddenly, he screamed at the man in the mirror. The foam caused by toothpaste dripped on his new dress with his movement. Regardless of it, he immediately washed out the foam with clean water.
With big eyes, he couldn’t believe that the man in the mirror had made the same movement as himself. Details were exactly the same, and there wasn’t a bit of flaw.
Finally, he believed that in man in the mirror was not a ghost but himself.
“How did I turn into this overnight?” He got close to the mirror and murmured.
The man’s skin was abnormally pale and blue. The bloodshot eyes made his eyes look scarlet and horrible. His lips were black, too. And the whole man looked like a ghost.
“Did sleep cause a problem?” He made several movements, and finally believed the man looking like a ghost was exactly himself.
Regardless of washing up, he dug out his hat, scar, and sunglasses, and put them on. He was going to hospital.
How did a normal man turn into this overnight? Shawn was convinced that he had been sick. Maybe it was a rare illness.
“Would it be cured?”
Thinking of it, he was rather upset, and decided that he would change his job if the illness could not be cured. Anyway, he had been unemployed since he got fired by the boss. He was not concerned that the mean boss would deduct his pay if he asked for a sick leave.
The apartment he rented was on the eighth floor, and he had to take the life every time he went out and came back. So did he this time.
However, he had been await for long, pressed buttons of both the lifts, and neither of them came up. He guessed that lifts must have malfunctioned. He decided to walk down the stairs, and getting cured was his first priority.
No one was found all the way to the stairs, but he didn’t feel strange. The community was close to kinds of companies, most of the residents were young people, and they always set off for work very early in the morning.
Before he was fired, he would always meet people living on the same floor. However, since he became jobless and got up later than before, he hadn’t met people on the floor most of the time. He looked at the sky, it was already daylight, and he figured out those people must have gone out.
Only his footstep sound echoed in the hallway, which made it feel rather empty. Just as well, it was day time, it would have been creepy if it was night.
He was stunned while coming down. Taking a quick look at his back, he found that the building was still there. So was the familiar double joy advertisement. Until now was he convinced that he didn’t travel through time.
Then, why did the peaceful community turn into the hell overnight?
There was blood all over the ground, bodies without arms and legs lying on the ground disorderly, abandoned and broken vehicles everywhere, and people walking slowly.
Could they be called people?
Their bodies were badly multilated with parts missing. Some could not be recognized as men, however, they were still staggering or crawling.
Could a normal man move ending up like this? He would have been sent to the morgue.
Shawn quickly found a place to hide, and then observed those people broken in body but firm in spirit.
Suddenly, the people which should be called corpses roared and then moved. They headed towards the same direction, fought with someone, and beat the guy. Then they squatted, and seemed to do something to the corpse. Shawn clearly heard the man’s sharp scream.
He stealthily got closer, and found those people were tearing a man lying on the ground, grabbing something from his body, and stuffing it into their mouths.
His eyes were widely open.
“Are these scenes of Walking Dead? They are zombies!”
Something unbelievable must have happened while he was sleeping.
