When I arrived at the photography studio, the shooting had just begun.
Fu Yuye arrived in a low-key manner. The staff standing outside the studio greeted him in hushed voices. Some who didn't recognize him assumed he was someone from the industry, after all, his appearance was handsome and tall, resembling a model. However, his aura was difficult to approach.
I looked through the crowd and saw Shen Mian in the studio. He was holding a bottle of perfume and posing according to the director's instructions. It seemed like they were taking makeup photos. He had a pair of enchanting peach blossom eyes and when he smiled, one corner of his mouth lifted. Judging from his face alone, one might think he was a charming and affectionate person. After a while, the makeup artist and costume designer both entered the scene. The photographer didn't recognize me but knew Fu Yuye, so he assumed Fu Yuye was in charge and showed him the photos one by one. Fu Yuye looked at a few of them and suddenly called out my name.
I stood behind him and quickly responded.
"Oh, who is this?"
The photographer guy originally had his head lowered, but his gaze caught me at this moment. He was holding a SLR camera in his hand, and his probing manner seemed a bit gossip-like.
I quickly reported my name and position.
"Oh, hello, I'm Chen Xin," he said.
He touched his pocket and took out a business card to give me. It seemed like the business card was stored in the inner pocket of his suit, because it still had his body temperature.
I saw the name and remembered—this photographer is quite famous. It seems like they have been listed among the top ten young photographers in the country. But they are also very mysterious. They became famous early and left the industry early too, not even attending the "Linzi" International Photography Awards. Many senior photographers in the industry lament the fact that he had exceptional talent but didn't know how to cherish it. China lost a David Harvey like this, and I never expected to encounter him in Hague.
"Hope we can have a pleasant cooperation in the future."
Chen Xin lifted his palm as he spoke, seemingly wanting to high-five me. On his left hand, he wore a platinum ring on his ring finger, and his fingers were proportionally long and well-shaped.
I hadn't even done anything yet, but Fu Yuye's gaze immediately fell on his hands. From my perspective, all I could see was his cold profile, presumably even colder from the front.
Chen Xin quickly pulled his hand back and playfully raised his eyebrows at me, "Ah, I just wanted to stretch my arms a bit. Holding the camera for too long has made my hands sore."
Then, he turned to one side and started chatting with the staff personnel.
The young talent was not arrogant at all despite his brilliance. On the contrary, he even had a tendency to be talkative.
People without airs are often easy to get along with.
By the time I finished work, it was already one o'clock in the afternoon. After that, I spent another half an hour conducting a short interview. The interview content in the draft had been reviewed and proofread by Shen Mian's manager. We even had the answers prepared. For example, we asked about their understanding of the brand's philosophy and their insights on fashion, among other things. The edited video would be around five minutes long and would be combined with behind-the-scenes footage.
After the interview ended, Shen Mian's assistant hurriedly came over and quickly led him to his next appointment fully armed.
He and Chen Xin seem to be quite familiar with each other, because during the shoot, Chen Xin often made him show various expressions, with a very casual tone. He also has a good temper and cooperates well. Before leaving, he would also take group photos with the staff and sign autographs before leaving.
"Ah, Shen Shadow, the popular actor who has been in the industry for so many years, doesn't have any scandalous news. How lonely that must be..."
Staff member A sighed as they looked at their autograph book.
"People focus on acting, not relying on buying hot searches to attract public attention. This is what a true actor is..."
Staff member B chimed in.
I listened briefly, then silently walked away.
After the interview, I didn't see Fu Yuye and I didn't know if he had left. Instead, I saw Chen Xin sitting in front of the computer, editing photos.
I thought for a moment and decided to greet him loudly before leaving.
He knew I was about to leave and said, "Add me on WeChat, it'll be easier to stay in touch."
I said, "Okay."
Then he took out his phone and saw my WeChat profile picture. It was a picture of Xiaojv when she was three years old, sitting in McDonald's and eating French fries, with tomato sauce all over her face.
He asked, "Is this your son?"
I was taken aback, unsure of whether to speak or not.
Just as I hesitated, he said again, "Doesn't look like it, seems more like a little mixed-blood."
Then, self-doubt negated this speculation.
I breathed a sigh of relief, feeling that it was for the best if he didn't know.
