Alyssa walked into the CEO’s office. The man at the desk was reading some files with his head lowered. She stood about one meter away from the desk. Hearing her come in, he didn’t look up, focusing on the files, taking notes sometimes. From where she stood, she could see his hair whorl.
"Good morning, Boss," she greeted him nervously.
Aaron raised his head. For the first time, Alyssa was so close to him. He was so handsome. His chiseled features were like those of a Greek statue. Those piercing eyes gave an impression that he was wild and unruly. Sitting there, he had a commanding presence.
His well-tailored suit set off his broad shoulders and slim waist. The white shirt he was wearing was buttoned up to the first button, indicating that he was meticulous.
Seeing the strange girl, he frowned. He had thought it was Callum Jiang, his secretary, who had walked in.
"Who are you?"
he asked in a cold tone.
Alyssa took a couple of steps forward and put her resume on his desk. Then she withdrew and said, "I’m a graduate of H City University. I was informed that I got the internship and that I should report for work today."
Aaron leaned back in his chair, cross-legged, gazing at her sharply. Alyssa’s heart leaped. She was so excited to see her idol, and yet she had to keep restrained. It didn’t feel good.
Alyssa pressed her lips as she lowered her head slightly, wondering what her boss was thinking. Does JK Group only hire good-looking people?
After she got off the elevator, she noticed that everybody she saw in the company was good-looking. She was not good at putting on makeup. Would she lose the internship because of that today?
"This year's intern is a girl?" Aaron remarked.
His question broke her out of her reverie. She had learned that in the past few years all the interns of JK Group were boys.
She looked down at her large breasts. Isn't it obvious that I’m a girl? Did he have to ask?
Despite the fear of the boss’ authoritative bearing, Alyssa pried, "Boss, do you discriminate against girls in employment?"
Aaron cocked his head and replied, "No. Since the previous ones were all boys, I thought this year's intern would be a boy too. Not bad. You are the first female intern we’ve hired from your university."
It sounds he approves of me.
Whoa,
my dream man is praising me!
As Aaron skimmed through her resume, he considered what position to offer her. JK Group had just hired some people recently. Currently, there was no vacant position.
"One of my secretaries will be on maternity leave soon. You can take over her job during her absence. Adapt to your role as soon as you can. You can keep the job if you do well in this internship. Otherwise, you will have to leave."
After that, Aaron made an internal call. "Callum, come in."
Alyssa was surprised. To be his secretary?
But my ambition is more than that. Besides, maybe the people who want to seduce him need the job more than I do.
However, since the boss had made his decision, Alyssa didn’t complain.
Gold will glitter everywhere. She was confident that she was capable enough to become a manager in several years.
Callum walked in. Seeing Alyssa in the CEO’s office, he glanced at her and then stood beside her. "Mr. Gu, you called me," he said quietly.
"Grant Harriet Fang’s maternity leave. Take her to Harriet to complete the takeover. She will be your responsibility in the next few days,"
Aaron said as he gestured towards Alyssa with his chin. Callum turned to look at Alyssa and then nodded to Aaron respectfully, "Yes, Mr. Gu."
Alyssa had been sizing Callum up since the minute he stood beside her. She knew a few things about JK Group. There were some important figures in the company.
First of all, the CEO, Aaron. All the unmarried female employees in the company dreamed of marrying him. Then there was Cyril Han, who was as cold as Aaron.
Alyssa couldn’t help imagining playfully that maybe people wouldn’t feel the heat anymore if they stood by their side in summer.
Another important figure in JK Group was Pamela Xia, the finance director. She was Aaron’s alumna and had graduated the same year as he. As a woman, she was as ambitious and competent as any man in the company.
Last but not least, there was the diplomatic Callum, Aaron's personal secretary. Even though he was only a secretary, he could make the decision on his boss’ behalf. He had proved himself to be as capable as Aaron and Cyril.
