Trying to calm herself down, Winnie came to the table and sat down. Tony Shen had a glance at his daughter. Surprisingly, he felt his daughter was different, but he could not tell what it was.

He shook his head thinking this may be his illusion because he was old. So he said dryly," Come on. Let’s eat."

The feeling of long time not eating together excited Winnie. In the previous life, she insisted to marry Saxon making her father very annoyed. So to avoid conflict with her father then, day by day, she lost contact with him.

Today this strong and everlasting fatherhood moved Winnie a lot. She picked up chopsticks, moistened her lips, looked up at her father and suddenly said, "Father, from now on I’ll be your obedient girl…"

Hearing his daughter saying that suddenly, Tony was surprised. His hand paused and looked at Winnie in doubt. He supposed his daughter was just making fun, but seeing her definite and serious eyesight, he felt a heart shake.

Whatever, Tony felt pleased in his heart for what Winnie said. Though he felt a little weird, he gave her a satisfied glimpse, full of affection. Then he sighed lightly, "My Winnie did grow up…"

Winnie looked at her father’s grey hair and felt like crying. But on her face there was still big and bright smile. She said to her father, "Of course, I am your daughter. Isn’t it good to grow up so that I can protect and take good care of you…"

Tony Shen shook his head smilingly as if he were facing a little girl. He turned to the food on the table saying to his daughter,"Ok, fine. Don’t gossip now. Eat…"

Apparently, Winnie knew her father was pleased from the bottom of his heart and she felt very content and happy too. From deep in her heart, she swore she would protect her family well in this life, as well as those who valued her and loved her. She would never allow them to be hurt or feel sad for her.

Winnie was very glad and was just beginning to eat when Tony suddenly said, "Oh, yes. Next week your Uncle Fu may come to visit us. You’d better meet him. He is my old army comrade. The second to none Fu’s Group in the city is owned by him. His father used to be the army commander here. Thus regardless about his present achievements or his family background, he is rare and distinguished. So we must be warmhearted and good mannered when meeting him."

Winnie’s hand holding chopsticks paused in a sudden and the smile on her face froze while her heart beating fast. Though she was sure the man might come with Uncle Fu, she moistened her lips and asked with a faint hope," Is it that only…only Uncle comes by himself?"

Tony didn’t notice Winnie’s weird look and replied, "No. His son may follow."

Winnie gave no response. Her hand with chopsticks in stopped there. She suddenly lost any desire to eat though she still felt hungry.

And just at that moment, Tony went on with the topic," Oh, yes…. His son is called Saxon Fu…"

No sooner had this name come out, Winnie felt a sudden fear inside just like a heavy hammer striking strongly on her heart. Even though she knew clearly who he was, what his name was and what she estimated, she could not help trembling her hands crashing the spoon beside her on the table.

"Crash!" was closely followed. It was the sound the spoon falling and striking the floor, which sounded very piercing and weird in the quiet dining hall.

Quite scared by the sound, Winnie shook and went numb. She bent down to pick them up. Coming forward, the granny stopped her, "My young lady, let me do it. Don’t move or you might hurt yourself…"

Only then did Tony notice Winnie was not herself. He frowned and asked her, "What’s the matter? Are you all right? Need to ask for the family doctor?"

Winnie was dazed but then quickly waved her hand and tried to make up a smile saying, "No. No need. I was just…just thinking what I should say when meeting Uncle Fu and what clothes I should wear… so I was absent-minded…"

Hearing this explanation, Tony nodded understandingly and said, "Just be decent. Though compared with our small business, his is much larger and richer, and he does not care so much about detail in life…"

Actually, Winnie didn’t hear her father, her hands clenched tightly beside her and her nails even stabbing into her palm, quite hurtful. But she didn’t feel it at all, because she was totally occupied in the thought of how to avoid the next week meeting.

Absolutely, she knew how she fell in love with Saxon in the last life and how its consequences came out. She had devoted so much but the results turned out that she died that way, the source of which was this meeting.

Winnie returned to her bedroom. Lying in bed, she turned over and over thinking about ways to solve the problem. School didn’t open next week, so she had no excuse and her father knew she had time to stay at home. She had no any excuse not to go downstairs either if guests came, which was considered very impolite. Worse still, her father had told her all about these in advance.

Winnie turned over in bed becoming irritated figuring how to escape from this meeting.

The paper calendar on the cupboard drew Winnie’s attention. On it she saw her mark above next Monday. Winnie’s eyes opened wide suddenly and got up from bed. Immediately, she took the calendar in hand, and found a line of small characters above next Monday, "Jane Xiao’s birthday."

Winnie’s eyes brimmed brightly. She thought she might have found out the way to avoid the coming meeting.
